ICE PLAY PRE-COLLECTION S/S 2023

The infectious beat of the 1980s meets the brilliance of ICE PLAY. The Italian brand goes back in time to unveil its spring/summer 2023 pre-collection.

This has been designed for a new generation that is all set to rediscover the style of the Riviera Romagnola, and the backdrop to the collection is the area’s sun-drenched shores and nightclubs, which without doubt played a huge role in the Italian economic boom. A magical social and cultural moment that ICE PLAY  captures effortlessly and that is perfectly in line with the brand’s creative heritage. You can practically hear the summer hits from the juke box as the girls hit the beach parading the most quintessential looks from the collection.

Menswear and womenswear alike are awash with bright oleanders. Electric blue flowers and acid green leaves pop against a bright orange background, injecting clothes with a crush of colour that is bound to turn heads. Print is splashed across mini dresses, blouses, pleated skirts, and double-breasted blazers paired with palazzo pants, creating the perfect mix-and-match of casual and new-formal wear. This same pairing has also been applied to menswear, which features hoodies, t-shirts, light jackets, bowling shirts and wardrobe-essential shorts.

In homage to the sea, one of the recurring themes of the Italian brand’s collection is blue and this can be seen on tracksuits and on body-hugging dresses that frequently feature cut-out detail. This love of blue also appears in denim wear, where a range of shades feature alongside lustrous fabrics and oh-so-80s patches. Flyers from Rimini nightclubs and vintage postcards provide inspiration for pieces, ranging from shocking pink to bold black & white maxi lettering across tricot garments. Press studs and ring belts contribute to the sartorial twist.

Workwear style can also be seen in the ICE PLAY collection, with a selection of quilted gilets, jackets with over-size pockets, drawstrings, and contrast zips and contrast piping. There are minimal lines and a colour palette ranging from mauve to industrial grey. Strappy sandals with maxi and platform heels sit alongside super-comfy pastel footwear. Bandanas and baseball caps top off the outfits as we welcome in the hottest months of the year, just like we did forty years ago beneath the beach umbrellas of Rimini.
