ICEBERG SPRING/SUMMER 2022 WOMENS & MENSWEAR COLLECTION

New York’s 1980s pop art and street culture invades the eastern beaches of Italy for the Iceberg Spring Summer 2022 mens and womens collections.

“It’s all about bringing together a group of globalised individuals who love travelling between major cities like London and New York and collecting inspirations from subcultures and then bringing it back to Iceberg’s ancestral home,” muses ICEBERG Creative Director James Long.

This season the UK native conjured the Dolce Vita beach club scenes of popular Italian cities like Riccione and Rimini through vintage ice cream and espresso prints, a pop banana motif and bold beach-towel stripes splashed onto breezy sartorial tops, off-duty hoodies and roomy trousers with a military silhouette. An enticing color palate of creamy mints, yellows and chocolatey browns splashed onto separates, handbags and footwear throughout the womens and mens collection sets the tone for a season of fun.

Iceberg’s tradition for luxury sportswear evolves further as Long explores the enduring influence of the worlds of America’s favourite pastimes: baseball and basketball. Shorts and polos inspired by team sport uniforms, are both roomy and polished — at the same time, conveying an effortless sense of Italian elegance with a hint of fine, hand crafted tailoring.

Letter jackets and collegiate, ribbed cardigans and oversized vests infuse a dose of elegance throughout, while an electrified edginess permeates across both collections as Long recalls his British roots and fondness for London’s counterculture music scene. A juxtaposition of tech and natural fabrics – seamless knits, dyed nylon, metallics and innovative fabrics like embroidered taffeta – is styled around an array of upscale womens active wear. Lycra sports bras, sleek leggings and tops with zip detailing serve as a base for the Iceberg woman’s intrepid night or day look.

Whether she is shopping on the promenades of European fashion capitals or checking out the latest night club, the Iceberg woman is once again recognisable for her risk-taking style.

Iceberg’s tradition for incorporating kitsch details and cartoon characters into the world of Italian luxury sports wear endures this season, injecting a dose of youthful positivity amid changing times. Emblazoned onto blouses and sweatshirts, Snoopy emerges, once again, as the iconic “hero” throughout mens and womens collections.

“When it comes to the new Iceberg, our customers are people who ‘go for it’ in a fearless way,” Long comments.
